The documentary about the story of the exceptionally talented Hungarian-Belgian painter Kim Corbusier was born from the brief acquaintance between Kim and the filmmaker 10 years ago.

Erika Kapronczai, who was a film directing student at the time, invited Kim to a casting for a short film, who was already an urban legend in Budapest due to his unique talent and the mysteries surrounding his origin. After their first meeting, the film project became a life-saving mission, which was supposed to be fulfilled by another film project: Kim and Erika started making a documentary about how Kim quits drugs. However, after a few months, this business also collapsed. Kim committed suicide. And he left his camera with Erika, full of enchanting shots from his last period. Now, 10 years later, Erika is finally making their film, recounting her brief and intense experiences with Kim, summarizing her life’s work, and digging deep into the immediate antecedents of her identity collapse and suicide. We understand the Kim phenomenon in its complex context, and we are left with more questions than answers. Parallel to the film, Kim, the artistic icon who left behind a brilliantly powerful oeuvre after his tragically short and intense life, takes his rightful place in the contemporary art canon, his paintings are included in Hungary’s most important collections.
